Sunday Oma went with the 4 of us to the festival. Liesl was all geeked to visit the mermaids. It was all that she could talk about on the trip out. There had to be at least 50k people there. The parking lot was crazy full. Liesl went to the festival in her Snow White costume which I thought was quite appropriate. For the festival but her Dirndl might have been better.... And warmer.... We got super lucky when we walked in people were handing out all kinds of comped tickets so we got in for free! Yay free! Liesl enjoyed the fairie houses and we took notes for our next year's garden. Liesl was overwhelmed with the weirdness of the festival. She loved seeing everyone in their costumes. Jim found a pickle stand immediately and bought us a couple. Jeannie took over his sucking on it like it was going out of style. We should have charged admission because everyone that saw her was crazy about the pickle eating baby. Everyone commented how cute it was how she was going to town on it. Liesl shopped a little with Oma and picked out a hair twist for her braid (basically hair jewelry). Wish I got more than 1, I might order one online. When we got to the mermaid line it was wrapped around like crazy so Jim and mom decided to go try to get a turkey leg..... They were sold out.... Seriously..... I stayed in line with the girls when they foraged for more food. Liesl of course made friends with the people in front of us. It was a good thing too because that pickle was making my stomach turn. I asked the lady we had been talking with if there was one nearby.... It was clear across the park! I was starting to sweat..... All the cell towers were busy and no one could get through. She told me she would save my place but what was I gook g to do with Jeannie? She agreed to go with me thank god. She held her while I visited the latrines yuck! Thank god for a friendly preschooler! It was a dilemma let me tell you. The wait was worth it all. We got to the front of the line when we came back and saw the mermaid. They did a super awesome job on her. She was swimming and diving and giving out pebbles. Both girls got one and she even blessed them for the girls by kissing them and touching Jeannie's forehead. Loved it! Mom even snuck in to see out new friend holding Liesl up to see her. Mom and Jim had brought us back apple dumplings ( you guys rock). I am sorry daddy missed out on the mermaid. We then went to see a piping rock band as Liesl would put it. Tartanic. Liesl insisted on 2 CDs and she even got them signed. The band adored her and took a picture with her. What a bunch of awesome guys. We then cought the end of a jousting match and a bird of prey show. I think the falcon was trying to swoop down and take Jeannie away. It could have literally touched my head quite a few times on the swoop down. Liesl quite enjoyed the show. We actually were there for 5 hours and it was the first time I remember closing out the festival! Liesl jammed a little to some tribal music on the way out managing to lose Jim and I. They weren't too hard to find. Mom put her on her shoulders so we could find her. We finished off the late evening at Sagebrush. Mom's first time. Hope she liked it.
Today the girls and I visited my little nephew. He lost a little weight and was down to 5 lbs 15 oz. I was happy to finally be able to hold him as Liesl got the flu earlier on the weekend keeping us from visiting them when they were discharged. Cute little peanut. Even took a picture of him next to his cousin Jeannie. Liesl thinks he is so cute. More Doctor appointments this week. Ugh! I have been putting them off too long. Jeannie has to get her hip checked out by the orthopedic and liesl has to go to the pediatric eye dr at the end of the month. No fun. Maybe he can work out her prescription better.
