Liesl loves Kayaking

We went to the cottage to visit Ota this weekend. Ota and Liesl were very happy to see each other. Well I am happy to say that Liesl really likes Kayaking. She likes to wear her new pink and green life jacket too which is great. As soon as I put it on her she marched right down to the water, just like Floyd and into it like a little duck. Mom's kayaks were perfect for boating with Floyd and Liesl since the deck zips off. Mine would be only slightly less easy as it only zips open into a slit. Liesl was so cute with her parasol and sunglasses and then kneeling on the front like Pocahontas looking out onto the water. She also loved putting her hands into the water as we glided through the lake pointing out all of the lily pads. We took some time to go to the park in the middle of the lake and played on the swings and slide and even on the climbing wall, which she did very well with me spotting her. We went out 3 times Saturday and Sunday with Liesl requesting the boat ride. I am so glad. It will be nice to do some more boating.

On the way home we visited Frankenmuth for some Family Style Chicken. Liesl enjoyed it very much. She especially loved the Kale which was garnish, the noodle soup and of course the chicken. Afterward we went down to the toy store and Liesl picked out a Hello Kitty doll which she hasn't let go of since. In the car she proceeded to make it "naked". She wont let it have any clothes on. She was very happy to see daddy when she got home.

weekend at the cottage

On our way to the cottage to see Ota. Liesl is watching Toy Story I in be backseat with Floyd. Can't wait to get up there for some fun in the sun and relaxation

I Love You

Yesterday in the car driving to Target, Liesl said " I love you Daddy" and "I love you Mommy". Needless to say she was very good and "made out" as Oma Ronnie would say. This morning, the Barbie she got from Target (Ballerina Barbie) was asked for by name "Dancing Barbie". We are looking forward to the cottage this weekend with Oma Gabi and visiting Ota who she has been talking about a lot lately. I will be sure to bring the sand toys and maybe we will all drive to the beach to play Saturday afternoon.

Starting to look a lot like home

Tuesday, I put together the kids TV Room/Romper Room. the Perrys came over for tacos and Tommy helped Jim do the stove swap and put the microwave in. Thanks so much Perrys! The TV Room is really cozy and the kids really love it. I have the 36' tube TV in there on the TV stand with everything snug inside, there is an air mattress on the floor with bedding and tons of pillows for the kids to lay on, all the stuffed animals and blankies and lovies they can handle. The Wii and a VCR are in there for the kids to watch Netflix or VHS movies. I think I am going to need another DVD player to make it complete for them. We tested it out that night with all of the kids and it is quite comfortable. I think it is going to work out quite nice for movie night!

Last weekend, on father's day, we visited Lexington Beach with the Perrys. The kids had a lot of fun playing in the water and in the sand making sand castles. Liesl loved wearing her sunglasses and hat on the beach. She was very brave and walked into the water up to her chest holding momma's hand. We actually spent the whole weekend with the Perrys which was really fun. Had a sleepover with Aly, Gavin and Heather on Saturday night and put the library together in my studio. It was really nice to get that together and got a lot of boxes out of the way. Then Sunday morning Tommy greeted us with bagels.

Last night Oma Gabi, Liesl and I went to the AMC theater to watch Toy Story 3 which was really good. This was Liesl's first real theater experience and she was captivated with the movie. The whole movie there was not a peep out of her. She sat very nicely with her Barbies in hand and blankie, juice and snacks in lap. The people around us didnt even know there was someone so young amidst them. Even after the movie finished an hour after her bedtime she was so sweet.

She has been saying just about everything she can repeat. Alot of her favorite phrases are "Help you", "I love you", "bubbye (person's name)", " I did it" among others.

Also I have some darling pictures of Grady, Liesl and Gavin playing in our back yard

New House

Well, we have been moving in for the past couple weeks. I say moving in because we still have things scattered to the winds...in the garage... in the condo garage....in the condo storage....some things at mom's. Liesl's crib hasn't been set up yet or her room really organized. But all of this is to be expected. Liesl was a little weirded out with all of the stuff being packed up in the condo and moved out but she handled it pretty well with the help of 36 mini Barbies. The new house has lots of room for the kids to play. We put it to the test on Saturday with three toddlers and a 10 yr old. Gavin, Grady, Liesl and Aly were all over playing on the swings and toddler slide and playing in the pool. Of course the Perrys have been over a few times to help and play since the move and Gavin and Liesl the explorers have checked it all out. They especially like the front room that will be my studio. It has wood floors and is quite big to let little feet and giggles echo through the house. Jim and I and all our friends and family have been working very hard to get the place in order. Thank you to all of you. We finally got our china cabinet in thanks to Heather and Tommy this weekend and hopefully we can get the bookshelves in this week to eliminate the other half of the boxes from the garage. I was also able to finally find the box of dirty dishes in and get them put away last night. Liesl has been very cooperative throughout this whole process.

Liesl has been really coming into her own with the talking. She has started to put together short sentences (2-3 words normally) Like "Thank you daddy", "Bubbye Momma", "Water, Momma, Please". She can repeat just about anything and she loves to use people's names as she sees better results with it. This weekend, Aly spent the night at our place and Liesl was so excited to see her in the morning. She loves to call for Aly to get her attention. I think this little girl has a Barbie collection bigger than Heather, Shannon and I combined. Even without the mini Barbies. One of her new favorite songs to sing is Ring around the Rosie. She likes to sings the "Ashes, Ashes" part and she loves to hold hands in the ring and sing the song. She also learned to say "I love you", she has been saying it a bit this weekend. She and Grady kissed eachother this weekend. They both leaned over and planted one on eachother's lips. It was so cute. One thing Liesl has been doing is having Oma Gabi wrap her babies up in a blanket that Aunt Gloria made for them and she rocks them and shhhhhh, shhhhhh, shhhh them and sings rock a bye baby to them (in her own way). Jim bought her some gardening gloves, her own rake and hand spade at the hardware so she can help momma with the garden. Everything is coming into place.
