Teeth Teeth

So Far, Liesl has almost 9 teeth in. Of the nine she has the following teeth in.
Top:
Both Central Incisors
Both Lateral Incisors

Bottom:
Both Central Incisors
Left Lateral Incisor (just barely through the gums)
Left First Molar (broke through the gums)
Right First Moar (just under the gums)

We are so sick in the Tierney house

Well, not all of us. Jim managed to escape the cold (which is an understatement). He took some Airbourne on Sunday and hasn't gotten any symptoms since. That is a change. Usually it is Liesl and I that manage to escape the colds! Well, she and I have been sick as a dog since Sunday. I stayed home with her Tues and Wed. Nose running like a faucet, wet cough, high grade fever at night, and a low one during the day. Even with the Tylenol and then starting yesterday with the Motrin per the Dr.'s orders she has been in a daze.

Tuesday, mom and I took her to Gymnastics and Storytime. In retrospect, wasn't too good of an idea. But the cold was not too bad for her Tuesday. She really enjoyed Storytime but she spent the 1/2 hour in my lap which was unusual for her. Gymnastics, she did very well. Climbed on all of the equiptment. Balance beams, "chin up bar", "high beam", and trampoline. She had a very good time there and it was hard to bring her home from it. She didnt sleep much afterward because of the congestion and was up for the rest of the day unfortunately. High fever again in the night

Yesterday, she woke up screaming and crying and was inconsolable for about an hour. I managed to get my mom on the line to call the Dr and get an appointment for her. I tried cooling her down with a bath but she was not having it. When I finally did calm her down with the sling, my body temperature regulated hers. She let me rock her standing up and watching Elmo in Grouchland until Oma got there to take us to the Dr.

She was so brave at the Dr. She cuddled with me as she was checked out and swabbed. Found out it isn't strep but probably a virus so we bought a vaporizer to help....which helped a lot. She hardly ate anything yesterday and with the congestion she cant nurse properly either. She did manage to get some OJ down though later in the evening and allowed me to rock her to sleep in front of Elmo in Grouchland for the 3rd time. All she did all day mostly was sit in my lap rocking and watching TV. I knew she was pushing through 2 teeth (one just breaking through and the other close to it. But found a third yesterday. 3 is a lot to push through. That would bring her up to.......4 on top... and 5 on bottom. And boy are they sharp.

She is doing a little better today and with her Oma Gabi

Uncle Davey leaving???!

Yesterday, Liesl had a good day playing with me. She got up at about 10 which was really nice for momma and dadda. Then she was already ready for a 2.5 hour nap by 1130! We did a lot of reading Sunday. Davey came back in the afternoon and hung out in his PJs with us. Dadda got some burritos from Chipotle which Liesl was very hungry for. She kept asking "bite?, bite? " She wouldnt let Davey out of her sight. He tried to go into the bedroom or the shower and she was there at the door hitting it and saying "Davey?" He would reply "be out in a minute" and she would ask again. Later in the evening he was on his Apple...which she found interesting as always....She loves to point out apples and loves technology. She was climbing onto the bench to get up close to him and "talk" to him in her language. You could tell she was asking questions because she had this quizzical look on her face and the way she was talking it was like she was flirting. She would get all quiet and say "me, me, me, me" Very cute.

Last night before she went to bed she was a little hot though and I discovered a little after that she must have a cold because she was a little stuffed up. She is doing rather well though regardless and in good spirits and I think she slept well. She managed to get up this morning in time to see Dadda and Davey off to their conference. So I am sure that she is happy with that.

Fun weekend

Thursday night our friend Davey from Florida came to visit. Liesl was a little shy at first with him but after about a half hour was pointing to him and calling "Davey!". She even gave away some kisses to him and got him to read some books to her.

Yesterday evening we and the Perry's went for a walk in town with the Perry's new Jeep stroller. We decided to get a little dinner at Georgio's. Liesl had the spagetti...and some brocolli, some salad and bread knots. She was quite a mess when she got done and I was suprised at how much she ate! Then we walked back to the Perry's and let the kids play while we watched a movie. Liesl fell asleep there for the first time in a long time during a movie. It has been at Least 6 month or more since she has done that. It was a very nice evening.

Today I am hoping to take her to the zoo. I might end up going myself because Jim is not feeling very well and trying to fight off the possibility of getting a cold and I am waiting to see if Heather might come.

Getting Dressed

This morning I had an early morning.Plus Liesl was making me run a little late with me trying to keep her asleep so I didn't have to worry about her waking up and following me around. Well, the plan didn't quite work out. I got about 2 minutes before she woke up and then she was down the hall with "MommaMommaMomma" She was in a pretty good mood though......at least until I told her it was time for me to go. Then she was crying "MommaMommaMomma" which broke my heart. But Daddy took good care of her before Oma got there 20 min later and she was just fine.

I got a call when my mom got there that Liesl was getting herself dressed again. She put on her hat by herself, her coat and then a snow suit on top of it. She is so funny. I wish I could have seen it

Last weeks pics from "in the box, out of the box" play

When Heather and the kids came over to play the other night when she got locked out I managed to get some cute pics of the kids playing in our moving boxes. Boxes are always the best!

Teething abated

Well I think the teething issues have abated at least for a little while. She has pushed one of her molars through on the one side and the other is still underneath the surface but I know it will be soon.

Just talked with Dee Morrison last night who expressed her interest at finally blogging about Grady. YAHOOOOOOO! So glad you have joined our ranks of blogging mommas.

Liesl has been prone to throwing a little bit of a tantrum if she feels like she is going to be packed up and put in the car. She just melts in a puddle and makes it impossible for me to put on her jacket. She also does the same when I am leaving .....thinking I am going to put her in the car with me. I am hoping that this is going to change soon. It makes it very hard for me especially when I have to drive her back and forth every day to her Oma's houses.

18 month pictures!

Liesl and Gavin had thier 18 month pictures today. Liesl just turned 18 months on Valentines day. As an added bonus, we had Aly. All the kids looked great! We all of course were a little stressed trying to pull it off for different reasons but we had Sally (our favorite photographer) and she always does a great job. We should have the pictures by the end of next week I think. Plus, we finally got to use my super saver card and got all our stuff 1/2 price! basically. I uploaded all the kids pics to Flickr and the slideshow on the left shows all of them.

Valentines Day

Yesterday we spent the day at Oma and Grandad's house for Valentines Day. Oma made a very nice dinner for us all of lasagna and gumbo. But before we went over to Oma's, Liesl and I made some strawberry cupcakes with home-made chocolate cinnamon frosting. Liesl again hadn't had her nap for the day. She was very good through dinner though, played a little afterward with her Ota and then took a nap upstairs....which Ota was not happy with me for. After her nap, Melisa and Scott came by to announce their engagement! We are all very excited about their announcement. Liesl was quite wound up after she woke up and was running and hiding an giggling in her playhouse. She was then trying to do somersaults which I was then challenged to do myself by Oma. She was clear across the room when I started but she managed to end up full under my butt when I followed through. Boy was she crying. I felt so bad but she darted so fast that no one could respond.

She had quite the late night last night but she got to sleep in because Oma came to pick her up this morning. Oma and Dadda said that she wanted to put on her jeans and shirt and also her pj's and jacket this morning and was making the both of them crack up.

Romance days in Romeo

Saturday, Shannon came by to visit. Jim, Shannon, Liesl and I went out to eat at this new little hole in the wall authentic Mexican restaurant in Washington. Ohhh it was so good. The owner gave Liesl some Mexican rice to chomp on. She hadn't had her nap yet so she was really tired but she was very good. We then went into Romeo for "Romance days". We met up with Shannon's friend Jolene and her boyfriend who is in the Chamber of Commerce so we got the hookup and managed to visit the old Theatre in town which was really cool. Liesl got to sample some of the chocolates in town and made quite a mess of herself. Shannon and I had to run into the bathroom with her and clean up a big red chocolaty mess off of her face and hands. We visited a lot of the shops in town. Liesl's favorite was the new toy shop on the corner of Van Dyke and Main where Dadda bought her a valentines present. We also checked out the Children's resale on the opposite corner. Shortly after finishing off the North side of the street and crossing over to the South she fell asleep in the sling which was a very good thing. We then tooled around Romeo for a few minutes looking at houses. We really didn't see much there that we haven't seen already. We dropped Shannon off and visited the Perrys for a New Orleans dinner night. The kids had a lot of fun playing together. Heather and I managed to take a lot of funny pictures of the kids trying to be on the same toys at the same time. I am hoping to see some of those on her webpage (hint, hint)

Slept in her crib all night!

Liesl slept in her crib all night on Friday night. Since we have the door in the side of the crib, I am able to crawl in with Liesl. I put her to bed at 9:30 pm and she slept in there all night. She woke up about 4 times in there, stood up and complained very briefly and then crawled back under the covers and went back to sleep every time. I was so proud of her but I missed her so much. I grabbed her and brought her to bed in the early morning but she managed to keep us both up by rolling around in the bed for the rest of the morning. Dumb move but I missed her so much.

Spent the Day with Momma

Yesterday, Liesl and I spent the day together to give Oma Ronnie a break. We did some coloring, sorting of colored blocks and a lot of reading. I asked her to hand me a color and she would find it and give it to me. We eat meatloaf with spinach in it for lunch and some juice . We had a very nice time together relaxing all day

Momma got to go to Storytime!

Liesl woke up really early this morning sometime before 7 am . She must have known that Momma had to take her to Storytime this morning and didnt want to miss a thing. I tried to feed her breakfast this morning (cocoa wheats) but she only took a few bites of it. She also decided to start the morning out with one of the most horrendous BMs ever. Stinky butt even after the change! Good thing I waited to change her into her play clothes. We were able to get out the door and on our way banana and sippy cup in hand for a snack on the go ..... which she did eat in the car when we arrived (on time) at the Romeo library. I thought we did pretty good.

I really like storytime at the Romeo Library. All the moms/dads and toddler/babies are in a circle (of course) on a brightly colored carpet with the teacher at the head with a lap harp. He leads some songs, reads a book, played with some large blocks with the kids and does a little Q/A about the week. What we ate for breakfast, what we did new this week, etc. Fun stuff.

We sang Old MacDonald with some felt animals on the board, read The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, tried to get the kids to walk through a doorway we made with large cardboard blocks and sang a few more songs.

Liesl was VERY well behaved. She knows that she is supposed to sit quietly and sing if everyone is singing. She listens very well and sits while the teacher is reading and singing. I am so proud of her. She did not throw a fit or run off like some other kids.

After class, Liesl and I had a couple minutes to kill before going to Oma Ronnie's for the day so we went into the kid's library section to play a little with the toys. Liesl was playing with a stacking toy when another little girl came over and sat between her and I and started taking pieces from the toy and tried to take some from her hands. Thank goodness for her playtime/sharing time with Gavin. She has learned to share very well and didnt get upset when the other little girl tried to grab the toy from her.

hmmm sleeping.....

She has been having a lot of trouble getting to sleep lately on most occasions. I can feel the molars finally cutting through. But they haven't made it more than a hair out unfortunately.

We visited the Perrys Saturday night to let the babies play. As we were getting ready, I let Liesl know that we were going to Gavin's house to play. She got so antsy about waiting for us that she was complaining at the door that momma and dadda were not moving fast enough and that she was ready now. We all had a good time at the Perrys and tried out the new Mexican place... that opened up in the old Mexican place's place...hehehehe.

Sunday, we spent hanging out in the condo. I had a rough time getting her down for her nap. Tried to get her to go to sleep in her crib. She is really used it it now and doesnt really complain too much. I put on Pandora on Jim's Blackberry and hooked it into the stereo on the "Children's Lullaby" station which helped. Then I rubbed her back and sang to her to get her to calm down. She did a little complaining, not enough to tire herself out...for about an hour an a half.... with a little bit of only what I can call scheming from within her crib. I went down into the basement to organize a little bit so we can start packing up our stuff. When I got back up she managed to get Daddy in her room with her. She had pooped and Daddy could smell it from the other room and I found him in there changing her when I got back upstairs. So... she went to bed the usual way and woke up at 6:30. Just in time for the superbowl. Which she enjoyed so much. I am thinking because of all of the cheering that she could hear coming from the TV. She kept saying "YAY-YAY-YAY-YAY" Which was hilarious. While daddy and Liesl were watching the game, I made the best meatloaf EV-ER with spinach snuck in. Well I shouldn't say snuck because both daddy and Liesl love spinach. I was happy because everyone got their veggies. We all ended the evening very well...despite the usual Liesl interruptions...cheering our "Saints" to victory!

Kindermusik yesterday

Guess I spoke too soon in the last post. Liesl went to Kindermusik yesterday and she was good... she didnt cry or scream but she was a little disruptive in the fact that she was trying to hang out with the other moms during class... Which the other moms didnt mind but I am sure that thier toddlers were a little jealous of her taking attention from them. All in all, the class went well according to mom and she followed directions and sang and danced and had loads of fun. I am sure that it all can be explained away that she was extremely tired that morning. She is still pushing molars which seem to be almost through. Hopefully they will push through this weekend because I have been having to give her more tylenol than I would like and she has not been sleeping well at all! And as a result neither have I (which doesnt really bother me that much... just the fact that she isnt getting the sleep she needs)

Today Oma Ronnie dropped mom and dad off at the airport to go to FL to watch the space shuttle launch. That should be cool. They will be gone until next Friday I think? Oma Ronnie and Opa Peter will be flying solo all week. Another reason I am hoping that those teeth push through.

Yesterday, mom bought some bedrails from the Funky Frog. Mostly because Liesl will not sleep in her crib. We have also been thinking about converting to the toddler bed on both cribs. But more importantly, we needed the rails the most at the Oma's houses because the beds are a not as big as momma and dadda's and one roll could put her on the floor if no one was there next to her.

Better and better at following directions

Liesl had a very good day today at storytime and at gym class. Mom said that she listened very well in storytime and sat quietly on the mat with her when she was having the story read to her. Other kids were not as well behaved. I was so happy to hear that. She has been using this word hoppy.... I am thinking it is elephants. I dont know why that would equate to elephant but I am 99% sure.

Today at Gym class she did equally as good as with the storytime. She listened very well and followed directions. She is working on rolls and sommersaults, climbing and balancing. They have been playing with parachutes and she is really liking that part.
